WORKS IN PROGRESS

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This is a personal painting related to the disorder of "Pectus Excavatum".  It will not be entirely monotone, but with a bit of color here and there.  I still have many more hours of work left.

This is my response to politics.  Another painting just started, with many hours left towards completion.  I am still obtaining reference for my eagle.

Little pet drawing of mine.  Birds...

My response to the classic "Ophelia" painting.  Still have a lot more time to spend on this one.  And yes, I did pose in a bathtub for reference (though the water was warm).
This is demonstration item I did for my watercolor
class.  Another one I am not sure if I will finish.

REVAMP of "BAHAMA MIDNIGHT"

Oil on Canvas / 16" x 20"

This is another self portrait.  I actually painted this back in 2001 (with the red flower in the hair) and it was called "Bahama Midnight".  Well, I always hated it, so about half of it has been revamped.  All of the face has been repainted, and the pink you see is the head dress I am in the process of painting.  It was originally acrylic, and now I am covering it with oil - I love oils so much better. (Remember - you can paint over acrylic with oils, but not acrylic over oils - oils need to breath, whereas acrylic is a plastic).
I also
have imaged some close-ups, and also included the original painting so that you may compare.

CHRIS

Oil on canvas / 20" x 30"

This is one of my few recent paintings that is not a self portrait.  I was taking pictures of the people I worked with and Chris got lucky (is that called lucky?) enough to land a spot in a painting.  The photograph I took had enough natural lighting, and he wasn't grinning (well, too much), that it almost looks like a life sitting pose.
Of course, I have used this method in the past.  It's rare that you will have someone that will volunteer to sit for you in life, so I have found that if I take pictures of people acting natural, they turn out to be decent paintings.
I have halted on this painting, because I'm not quite sure what to do with it.  Painting his face was almost the easy part.  Now I have to decide what the rest of this painting will be about.
